I sent them a factory crank and block, and I modeled the rod journal and rod using pro engineer to determine the appropriate rod and journal width to allow for using the factory bearing without modifying it. I explored using different bearings from other engines for additional bearing width, but the tradeoffs were unacceptable. using L28 diesel bearings would provide additional width, but requires a really tight fillet radius which would seriously weaken the crank. For this reason, Crower refused to go smaller than 3/32" on the fillet radius to keep stress concentrations at a reasonable level.
